Bring Back Our Hearts

In these last four years there has been so much to be grateful for!

So many thoughts and emotions, sad and happy moments mixed together.  Tears have been shed but so much joy as we have watched David Archuleta create a rhythm of beating hearts that are joined across the world.

Though difficult times are ahead for many fans there is always comfort to be found in each other and the knowledge our Heavenly Father knows what we are going through and that he will provide us the strength we need to continue on for the next two years.

How overwhelming David must feel by the out pour of all the love and support fans have given him, now, and all though out his career.  It’s difficult to put into words our feelings and emotions.  Explaining our love for him is impossible, as language isn’t capable of emotions. Words can’t attempt to express our love for him.

As David communicates through his music so brilliantly we must continue to use words and actions.  I came across this quote the other day by Robert Sexton and felt it described how so many fans feel and react when they have the opportunity to speak with David or at least try to.  It reads as the following:

“Sometimes your nearness takes my breath away, and all the things I want to say can find no voice. Then, in silence, I can only hope my eyes will speak my heart.”

Over the last few weeks fans have said “Thank You” to David in several different ways and all has been beautiful, but it never seems to be enough.  We have so much in our hearts to say and be grateful for yet a mist of sadness looms over us as the days come closer to his mission.

Remember, the final scene in Nandiko Ako closes Josh’s journey but David’s adventures are just beginning.  Let’s enjoy every moment that comes to us and embrace his happiness.  He is working hard for his fans up to the very last minute in the recording studio.  How much more can this beautiful young man keep giving?  He reminds me of the commercial of the energizer bunny, no pun intended to that cute bunny wave in the Nandito Ako cab scene.  He just keeps going and going and, yes, he soon will be gone.

Somehow, somewhere, sometime David will make sure he lets his fans know how he is doing to show his appreciation of all our support and love.  That is just who he is and no matter what, his heart will be heavy with our thoughts.

Again, I personally feel a need to say “Thank You” David Archuleta for all the music, laughs, support, and your Thank You’s. Your determination, endurance and commitment to your music have been a joy to watch and I will wait patiently for your return in 2014.

A song by Natalie Merchant “Kind and Generous” (Thank You), makes me feel it was written with David in mind.  But yet, it will never be enough.

Na Na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na na na
You've been so kind and generous, I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
For your selflessness, my admiration
For everything you've done, you know I'm bound, I'm bound to
thank you for it....
Na Na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na na na
You've been so kind and generous, I don't know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I'm in debt to you
And I never could have come this far without you
For everything you've done, you know I'm bound, I'm bound to
thank you for it....
Na Na na na na na na na na na
na na na na na na na na na na
Oh, I want to thank you for so many gifts you gave with love and tenderness,
I wanna thank you
I want to thank you for your generosity, the love and the honesty that you gave me
I want to thank you, show my gratitude, my love and my respect for you,
I wanna thank you
Oh I want to thank you, thank you, thank you,
thank you, thank you, thank you...

Star Light, Star Bright

Star Light, Star Bright

"....first star I see tonight.....wish I may, wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight."

Set your sights on a bright star, take a deep breath, and make a wish!  A constellation you say?  No David Archuleta!

                                 Starlight, Starbright
                                     by Rebekah E. F.

                                   Starlight, starbright,
                                   First star I see tonight
                                   I wish I may, I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonight.

Oh star up there, I know you
                                   hear me,
                                   Way down here on earth.
Listen to my cry, oh, please,
I'm wishing for all I'm worth.
Tell the one I care about,
(For this wish is for him)
That I will always love him,
Star of mine, please don't go
                                    dim!

                                    Starlight, Starbright,
                                    So far away
                                    Give him eternal sight,
                                    And always light his way!

                                    Starlight, Starbright,
                                    When I see you tonight,
I know my wish I made out of
                                     might
                                    Will be answered of him
                                     tonight.

I wish he wasn't leaving, I wish I could see him one more time, I wish I had gone to more concerts, I wish it were 2014, I wish I were younger so I would have more years to follow his career, I wish, I wish, I wish.

I wish him the best!

Do these wishes appear in your thoughts?  The days are dwindling down to reality and in just a few David Archuleta will be entering Mission Training School and then off to a foreign country.

The last two years he's been thinking about it pretty hard, actually planning since he was twelve.  A mission is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something he can't just let by.  It's a life choice, and let's applaud him for putting others ahead of himself.  When he comes back, he will be even better because of it.

David actually wants more in his life than just being famous but he seems committed to returning to us and continuing his music.  In a recent interview David said, "Two more years, I know it will be new experiences I'll gain, new things I'll learn and I can't wait to share with all of you guys."

David has grown as an artist but has retained the same musical core he began with, something that is uniquely his.  And, while he has remained the same in many ways since beginning his journey, I suspect David will expect a certain amount of change to come as he matures along with his mission.

In an industry where you can be here today and gone tomorrow David has maintained being humble.  His understading of the industry has grown and the hardship of the industry has not taken a hold of him and hasn't broken him down like it has done to many.  If anything he seems stronger and unscathed by the struggles of getting his music to his fans.

David promised that as long as he can make music, he will.  By releasing Forevermore and his pending US music, he is showing his core fans and especially the new ones that he is making music and doing it his own way for his fan-base.

His love for his fans is abundant as he spends his last few days not only with family and friends but making music to assure his fans that when he leaves there will will be something to fill the void while he's on his mission.

When you love someone your heart is open and all that loves just pours out.....I am wishing we had more weeks, more hours, and I find myself counting the seconds and wishing they would never end but they will.

Wishes aren't granted from a Genie in a bottle but if they were my three wishes for David would be.....

I wish your dreams filled with magic

I wish you love that never ends

I wish you walk with God every day

So as the Sun caresses the morning and awakens a new day, the sounds of your music will echo in our hearts, and as the Moon winks at us before we slbumber we'll remember to dream about you, and wish you were here.

The David Archuleta Music Scholarship

Times are tough and money is limited, but if we could look deep down in our hearts and pockets maybe we can find that little extra for these kids. This is such a great gift in David's name. Please help if you can.
.
Lets see if we can make a Dream come true!

http://www.thedavidarchuletamusicscholarship.org/

BECAUSE OF DAVID

David Archuleta has been a catalyst ... spreading goodness to others ....planting seeds of kindness....by living his life in truth. David "walks the talk". For about 4 years now, we have been watching this loveable young man change lives...just by being who he is.

David's strong character, faith and values, have endeared him to people around the world. His special fans feel very blessed to have been able to feel his warm spirit, as he brings so much happiness and joy to others. David is a role model for all. Trying to be ...."More Like David"...is something fans can really relate to.

Because of David ... his fans have grown....working very hard at living their lives more fully and less selfishly. They have supported his many charities, and have used his inspiration to create projects that reach out to others as they have seen David consistently and lovingly do. He has shared his time and talent ...giving so unselfishly to so many people and charities. So many of his fans are now using his example ...to pay forward his goodness.

One of the many projects created as a way to say: Thank You David...is: "The David Archuleta Music Scholarship".

This year, before David leaves on his mission, fans would like to pay special tribute to David...

Dear David...

We would like you to not only read these words...but feel the special message behind them for you. Your fans are being very honest when they say: You have made us take a look at our lives...and realize that by reaching out....giving to others; we are really giving to ourselves. Your inspiring example is helping us to become better versions of ourselves. Our lives have been improved by watching how you live your life, always thinking of how you can make someone else's day better.

"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it." ------Edith Wharton

David....you have left a" handprint on our hearts" now. Please be assured that while you are away on your mission, we will still be busily using your inspiration to enhance our lives by helping others. We will truly miss you, but when you return... we will be able to "swap stories" about how all our lives have been changed ...and enriched by giving to and caring for others. :)

We can't thank you enough... for who you are... and all you have helped us to become.

With Much Love and Respect Always----While we "Wait".

God Bless you and keep you safe, happy and healthy.

-----From All of Your.... FANS "FOREVER".... Around the World.

Today we are kicking off our third campaign of The David Archuleta Music Scholarship. This is one way fans can honor David, by paying forward his goodness to music students at Murray High...the high school that David attended in Murray, Utah. Our hope is that all fans will unite....putting our hearts together to show David how much we love and appreciate all he has done for us!!

During the past 2 years, David's fans have donated over $9000 to TDAMS!! This has been an amazing outpouring of support...given in David's name. It is our hope that many more fans will be able to help this year.

We have set an initial goal of trying to get 300 fans to donate to TDAMS. We will be focusing on the number of fans who are donating. Giving a little ...from a lot... does make a difference! Every dollar counts!

David has such amazing fans that are always looking for ways to "give back" to him to show him our love and appreciation for all he has done, and continues to do for his fans.

Maybe this is just one of the ways that fans can show their admiration and respect for David before he leaves on his mission soon.

Fans...please join us in spreading the word...and watch for Donor updates! Let’s put our hearts together in this special way to Honor David by Gifting Students. :)

"Don't cry because it is over. Smile because it happened." Dr. Seuss

Life is full of hellos and goodbyes.

One of the saddest things in life is to have to say goodbye to someone who you care about.  When it’s time to say goodbye, it tears apart the fabric of our souls. There is no one way to say goodbye.  There are, however, some ways that are better than others.

Songwriters around the world have captured many of these feelings in song. Music has a special ability to soothe. There are few feelings that do not find relief in music.

There is no way to completely take away the pain you might feel, but there are some things you can do to make saying goodbye a little easier.

When you have those dear to you leaving it’s a great idea to make them a play list of goodbye songs just to tell them how much you’ll miss them.

So before David Archuleta leaves on his mission, I wanted to give him a proper goodbye with a song, actually several. My choices may not be yours or his but these songs say what comes from my heart and perhaps some of yours.

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration.  The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.

Thank you David for the Time of Our Lives. You have given us so much and are one of life’s sweetest creations.

These songs are for you.

On My Way – Phil Collins

Goodbye to You – Michelle Branch

It’s Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday – Boyz II Men

I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack

I Will Remember You – Sarah McLachlan

                        In My Life – Beatles

"There Will Never Be A Day When I Won't Think of You"

A Retrospective Series

By Pamela Pike and Rosanne Simunovic

There’s nothing that compares when 16 year old David Archuleta arrived in San Diego, California in 2007 to audition for American Idol. He came with immense talent and excitement to find his dream, an artist working through the heart.

David appeared as a singer who kept reaching beyond his every achievement, concerned not with winning, but to see how far one could go. What he could not have known at the time was that he was to show America how to see itself as it never had before.

David is special in many ways, and has brought so many people together in faith.  His talent has brought him to the forefront of the world and his faith has kept him on target with all the responsibility that it brings.

As David leaves on his mission one of faith and service for the next two years, we will be providing a Retrospective for his fans consisting of David’s recordings and performances from American Idol to the present.  It will be a history of a young artist’s impact on the fans who love him.

This is music clearly for keeps, and its essential vitality needs to be passed on and not forgotten.  These are not just great performances but an entire process of work that deserves repeated listening.

While we wait for his journey to complete we can take our journey, one of patience, love, understanding and remembering why the last four years took a piece of our heart.

It is with great respect and my honor to have Rosanne Simunovic join me on this two year journey of love.

I feel fortunate and privileged indeed to have been invited by Pamela Pike to be part of this exciting David Archuleta journey. When collaborating with Pamela on this Retrospective Series, the first song that came to mind was "Think Of Me" from "Phantom Of The Opera".

Arranged by the very talented Richard Parkinson and performed by David during American Idol Season 7, the lyrics seemed a perfect launch pad for David's two-year Mormon Mission.

For even though he will be fully embracing this religious calling, we know that his thoughts of family, friends and fans will never be far from his mind and heart.

Therefore, we feel it is important that David knows and understands that he will never be far from our thoughts and our hearts as well. His talent is unique, a God-given gift and one that always deserves our utmost devotion and praise.

We know how much he adores and appreciate his fans, for this is what keeps him grounded and motivated to strive for the very best.

"Think Of Me" is more than just an exquisite arrangement. It is a testament to the kind of music that attracts David and, ultimately, defines who he is as an artist.

David performs songs that speak to him on a very personal level, which is why he has chosen to create his own journey toward international success as a music artist.

David's innate ability to create a current sound for this theatrically-based song was truly inspired. I don't think I have ever heard a more expressive delivery of this song. It was so genuine and heartfelt, a soulful take on this classical musical theatre song.

It was ready for air play four years ago and still is to this day. Imagine a musical theatre song hitting the Billboard Charts? What a rare achievement this would be.

So, by featuring it once again in this Retrospective Series, it may fall on influential ears and receive the recognition it truly deserves.

But, more important, it will encourage us to hold fast to our musical memories of David during his two-year musical hiatus and gently, but firmly, further tighten the bond between singer and listener.
